Kenya Celebrates Eliud Kipchoge's Historic 1.59 Hours Marathon

On October 12, 2019, Kenya came to a standstill as Eliud Kipchoge crossed the finish line to win the Ineos 1.59 hours marathon in Vienna, Austria.

With a time of 1 hour 59 minutes 40 seconds, Kipchoge proved his mantra that 'No Human is Limited' a reality.

Thousands of Kenyans from all walks of life took to social media to celebrate their hero with heartfelt congratulatory messages.

Even in Eldoret, Kipchoge's home town, thousands thronged the CBD to watch the historical race beamed live on giant screens mounted on the streets.

Vienna too witnessed history being made with thousands of spectators lining the course to support Kipchoge and his team of 41 pacemakers.

Kipchoge ran a consistent pace set by the electric timing car and the pacemakers of 2:50min/KM throughout the race.

His achievement was met with real, genuine happiness from Kenyans across the country, with many taking to social media to congratulate him on his historic victory.
