On October 12, 2019, history was made in Vienna, Austria, as Eliud Kipchoge, a two-time Berlin champion, broke the sub-two hour marathon ceiling in the INEOS 159 challenge.

Working with 41 pacemakers, Kipchoge clocked 1hr 59min and 40secs, thrilling thousands of fans, including his wife Grace and Deputy President William Ruto, who were in attendance.

Speaking after the race, Kipchoge thanked his global fan-base for cheering him on in the limit-breaking race.

His wife, Grace, and their three children were among a host of Kenyans who traveled to Vienna to witness this historic moment.

For their children, Grace described the occasion as historic, as they had never had the opportunity to see their father in action.
