On October 12, 2019, World marathon record holder Eliud Kipchoge was set to take on the Ineos 1:59 challenge in Vienna, Austria, aiming to run under two hours in a 42km race.
As Kipchoge prepared for the historic attempt, several bars in Nairobi showed their support by reducing their local beer prices to Sh159.
Blackyz Lounge, located in Nairobi, was one of the clubs that lowered its beer prices from Sh300 to Sh159.
According to a poster circulating on social media, the reduced beer prices would be available during the marathon hour on Saturday from 7am to 10am.
Other participating clubs included Moran Lounge on Kiambu road, which would sell its beers at Sh159 on Saturday from 8am to 12pm, and Cahoots pub, which would offer the reduced price from Friday 11.50 pm till the end of the race on Saturday.
