Published on October 12, 2019, a 25-year-old woman, Jackline Kendi Kalothe, was charged with stealing Sh14,000 and a mobile phone worth Sh23,000 from her 'catch' after spiking his soda.
According to the charges, Kalothe administered a harmful substance, known as mchele, to Wilson Kimeu at his house in California, Eastleigh on September 29.
Kimeu had met Kalothe at a bar on Kiambu Road where they were drinking with friends.
When it was time to leave, Kalothe asked Kimeu to accompany her home, and they took a taxi to his residence at around 6am.
However, Kalothe allegedly spiked Kimeu's soda with mchele while they were watching TV, rendering him unconscious.
When Kimeu woke up the next day at 2pm, he found himself alone and the door to his house open. He discovered that Kalothe had fled with his phone, a bracelet, and Sh14,000.
Fortunately, Kalothe was spotted at a bar on Mombasa Road a few days later by one of Kimeu's friends, who informed him.
She was arrested by security guards at the bar and upon searching her, she was allegedly found with split tablets believed to be the same ones used for stupefying. They were hidden in her private parts.
Kalothe denied the charges before senior resident magistrate Eunice Suter and was released on a Sh200,000 bond.
The hearing is set to start on February 10 next year.
