Published on October 12, 2019, a woman from Anna Bay, New South Wales, Australia, has revealed her plans to marry a man 40 years her senior.
Rachael Roberts, 33, met Nev McDermott, 73, five years ago at a bus stop near their home. Their whirlwind romance began when Rachael offered Nev a lift in her car after noticing he had undergone a knee replacement.
Describing Nev as "pretty handsome for an old fella," Rachael says she was not put off by the huge age gap between them. They soon struck up a close bond while weeding and gardening, discovering they both loved bands the Bee Gees and Nickelback and adored wildlife.
After four years together, Nev decided to pop the question last November. The couple now wants to get married as soon as possible and has been asking people to donate a venue, flowers, and other essentials to help them have their special day.
Despite the cruel rumors claiming Rachael was a golddigger, their family and friends were happy for them. Rachael says their relationship became the talk of their small town, but they were ecstatic and didn't let the rumors bother them.
"Every day with Nev was an adventure," Rachael said. "We both loved fishing and swimming. And sometimes, when it rained, Nev would grab my hand and we'd run outside and dance!"
