On an unspecified date, a devastating incident occurred in Kivaruri village, Embu East, where a middle-aged woman was fatally stung by a swarm of bees.

The woman, later identified as Rosemary Wanja, was picking tea from her farm when she stepped on the swarm of bees, triggering a deadly attack.

Witnesses recounted that efforts to rescue Wanja were in vain as she was trapped inside the tea bushes, and the bees aggressively attacked anyone who attempted to get closer.

Antony Njagi, a resident who responded to the distress call, was also attacked by the bees and suffered minor injuries.

"It took us time to get to where she was. The bees were too many and she was inside the tea bushes. We got too late," Njagi said, describing the harrowing experience.

Wanja was rushed to Runyenjes sub-district hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries and was taken to the hospital mortuary.
