President Uhuru Kenyatta has made a personal call to Eliud Kipchoge, wishing him good luck as he prepares to make history in the INEOS 1:59 challenge in Vienna, Austria.
On October 12, 2019, the world will be watching as Kipchoge attempts to break the two-hour barrier in the marathon, a feat that has never been achieved before.
Naibu Rais William Ruto has already arrived in Vienna to support Kipchoge, who has been training hard for this momentous occasion.
According to a statement from State House, Uhuru Kenyatta called Kipchoge to express his support and wish him well in his attempt to make history.
"Rais Uhuru Kenyatta amempigia simu Kipchoge na kumtakia kila la heri akishiriki #INEOS159 challenge. Alimhakikishia kuwa nchi nzima ilikuwa nyuma yake wakati akijaribu kuunda historia kama binadamu wa kwanza kukimbia mbio za masafa marefu kwa chini ya muda wa saa mbili," taarifa ya Ikulu ilisema.
Kipchoge, who has been training for months, is confident that he can achieve his goal and make history in the process.
As the world waits with bated breath, Kipchoge's supporters, including President Uhuru Kenyatta and Naibu Rais William Ruto, are rallying behind him, wishing him all the best in his attempt to break the two-hour barrier.
