Published on October 12, 2019, the Kenya Pipeline Company's (KPC) rigorous integrity standards have left many applicants unqualified for the top job.
According to the Ministry of Mining and Petroleum, only three out of 140 applicants for the position of managing director met the conditions for consideration, as per Chapter Six of the Constitution on leadership and integrity.
The applicants who failed to make the shortlist did not provide clearance certificates from the Kenya Revenue Authority and the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, which are essential requirements for the position.
Energy and Petroleum CS John Munyes recently renewed the contract of acting MD Hudson Andambi, as the company seeks to fill the position.
The top job at KPC has been marred by corruption allegations, with former bosses including Joe Sang and Charles Tanui facing charges related to graft.
