On Friday, October 11, 2019, Sarah Wairimu Kamotho, accused of murdering her husband Tob Cohen, was released from Lang'ata Women's Prison after 46 days.

Ms Wairimu, who had denied the murder charges, was granted bail by Lady Justice Stella Mutuku, who directed her to seek the court's permission before returning to her former residence, a Sh400m villa at Kitisuru, Nairobi County.

Justice Mutuku also ordered Ms Wairimu to file testimonials from her parents stating that they were willing to accommodate her, and to provide a report on how she would support herself financially.

Ms Wairimu was released on a Sh2 million cash bail, with the option to deposit Sh4 million bond with two sureties of Sh2 million each.

Her father, Japheth Kamotho, and defence lawyer Philip Murgor, accompanied her to the prison to collect the release warrant.

Ms Wairimu was arrested on August 28, 2019, over the disappearance of her husband on July 19, 2019, and was eventually charged with murdering Cohen.
