Eliud Kipchoge's INEOS 1:59 Challenge Set to Break Ground

On October 12th, 2019, Eliud Kipchoge will embark on a historic run in Vienna, Austria, as part of the INEOS 1:59 Challenge. The start time for the challenge has been announced as 8:15 AM CEST, which is equivalent to 9:15 AM Kenyan time.

Deputy President William Ruto and his wife Rachel are expected to be in attendance, cheering on the global champion. The event will be aired live on Citizen TV, allowing Kenyans to follow the challenge from the comfort of their homes.

As part of the event, Safaricom has announced a free YouTube bundle for its subscribers. From 8 AM to 4 PM on the day of the challenge, all Safaricom subscribers will be able to stream the Vienna race live on their phones at no cost.

According to Fran Millar, CEO of TEAM INEOS, the decision to start the challenge at 8:15 AM CEST was made after taking into account all the different parameters. Kipchoge has been training on the course as part of his race-week preparations and is feeling well and happy with the course.
