Former Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri is set to return to management in the Serie A with struggling side Sampdoria, replacing sacked Eusebio Di Francesco.
According to reports from Sky Sports in Italy, Ranieri will succeed Di Francesco, whom he previously succeeded in AS Roma in March.
Samprodia’s form is currently lacking, having lost six out of their opening seven Serie A games, leaving them fixed in the relegation zone.
Despite not being the first choice to replace Di Francesco, Ranieri has been offered a season-long deal worth £885,000, with the option to renew if he can drag the club away from its relegation woes.
This will be Ranieri’s 20th job in football management since he began his coaching stint back in 1986 with Vigor Lamezia.
He has managed a total of 16 clubs, with nine of those clubs jobs coming in his native Italy, including his finest moment guiding English Premier League side Leicester City to a title triumph in the 2015/2016 season.
However, since his title win, Ranieri’s fortunes have turned drastically, with him being sacked by Leicester, Fulham, and Roma in less than four seasons.
One interesting twist in the tale is the fact that the 67-year-old is once again stepping up to replace Di Francesco for a second time.
