October 11, 2019, was a day of surprises for Gardner Minshew II, the Jacksonville Jaguars' rookie quarterback. While he was busy leading his team to a 2-3 record, he also discovered that he's not owned by anyone in his own fantasy football league.
Minshew's impressive performance on the field has earned him praise for his 'awesome mustache' and 'cool outfits.' However, his fantasy football skills are a different story. Despite being a sixth-round pick in this year's draft, Minshew has been a revelation for the Jaguars, leading some to wonder if he could retain his job even once starting QB Nick Foles heals from his injury.
According to a friend of Minshew's, Tre Polk, the quarterback basically re-did his whole team from scratch in his fantasy league, picking up early season studs like Josh Jacobs, Austin Ekeler, and New England's defense. But even he didn't know enough to draft himself.
"That's the thing," Polk told ESPN. "I keep waiting for him to pick himself up, but no one took him. Gardner Minshew is available in Gardner Minshew's fantasy league."
Polk also revealed that Minshew actually drafted a rookie QB—just not himself. "Gardner actually took Kyler Murray," he said.
