On October 11, 2019, President Uhuru Kenyatta made a phone call to Eliud Kipchoge, wishing him success in the INEOS 1:59 challenge, a historic attempt to run a full marathon in under two hours.
As the world waits with bated breath for the INEOS 1:59 challenge on October 12, 2019, Kipchoge continues to receive blessings and messages of goodwill from the highest-ranking individuals.
Deputy President William Ruto has already jetted to Vienna, Austria, to show support to the 34-year-old athlete ahead of the marathon.
Through the official State House page, it was learned that Uhuru, who has been rather coy about the marathon, excited Kenyans after rallying behind Kipchoge, who holds the men's marathon world record with a time of 2 hours, 39 minutes, and 1 second.
"President Kenyatta today made a phone call to Kipchoge and wished him success in tomorrow's #INEOS159 challenge. He assured the elite runner of the entire country's backing as he sets out to make history as the first human being to run a full marathon in under two hours," a statement from State House read.
