On Saturday, October 12, 2019, Eliud Kipchoge, the Olympic champion, will attempt to break the two-hour marathon barrier in Vienna, Austria.
According to the current world record, set by Kipchoge himself in Berlin last year, the fastest time to run a marathon is 2:02:39.
For Kipchoge to achieve his goal, he will need to shave off 26 seconds from his previous fastest time of 2:00:25, which he achieved in 2017 at the Monza race track in Italy.
The event, backed by INEOS, a British multinational chemicals company, and its billionaire owner Jim Ratcliffe, will be held on the Prater Hauptallee in Vienna, Austria.
Viewers around the world can watch the event live on INEOS's live stream or on Citizen TV.
