On Friday, 11th October, at 4:04 pm, the car containing the bodies of Mariam and her daughter Amanda was finally retrieved from the Indian Ocean, 13 days after it slid off the MV Harambee ferry at the Likoni crossing channel.
Government Spokesman Cyrus Oguna announced that the military will conduct a brief military service before the bodies are handed over to the police for further processing.
According to Oguna, the family will also be allowed to hold a prayer service at the scene before making burial arrangements.
The family representative expressed gratitude to God, stating that the prayers they had been holding at the ocean had been fruitful.
He added that they have briefed the police on where to drop the bodies once they are through with processing, and that they will be holding meetings at Tudor for funeral arrangements.
