On September 29, a devastating ferry disaster occurred in Likoni, Mombasa County, Kenya, leaving many stranded in the ocean. Mariam Kigenda and her son Amanda Mutheu were among those who were swept away by the strong currents.

According to reports, the duo was rescued on October 12, 13 days after the incident, thanks to the efforts of various rescue teams and organizations.

The rescue operation was a challenging one, with the team facing obstacles such as strong waves, marine life, heavy rain, and strong winds.

Various units of the police, including the DCI, and the Red Cross Society were involved in the rescue efforts, working tirelessly to recover the bodies and ensure their safe transportation.
