President Uhuru Kenyatta has praised the swift response of rescue teams to the Silverstone Air crash at Wilson Airport on October 11, 2019.
According to a statement from State House Spokesperson Kanze Dena Mararo, the President wished passengers a quick recovery.
Reports indicate that nine people who were seriously injured in the 9am incident have been admitted to hospital.
Emergency services were commended for their 'chap chap' response during the Silverstone accident at Wilson, as noted by Twitter user @nasirkenya.
“Some of the passengers who were on board and were saved continued with their journey as scheduled, our air craft schedule will continue as usual,” Captain Sheila Muturi, from the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority, told a Press briefing.
The Silverstone aircraft, carrying 50 passengers and five crew members, skidded off the runway as it prepared to take off from Wilson Airport.
Investigations into the accident are ongoing, with the KCAA unable to provide a preliminary cause.
The plane was scheduled to leave Nairobi for Lamu when the accident occurred.
Silverstone airline operates six routes: Mombasa, Kisumu, Malindi, Ukunda, Lamu, and Lodwar.
