Published on October 11, 2019, Wajir County government has denied recent reports ranking it the most corrupt in the country.

The allegations emerged after Wajir governor H.E. Governor Mohammed Abdi made a mini-reshuffle in his government, sparking discontent among some officials.

"It is always normal for a few to be unhappy about such decisions," a county official told Nairobi Journal. "There is a Somali adage that says 'Judgement or decisions do not make all happy.' It resonates with the changes that some few people are not happy with."

The official further alleged that a local survey had recently ranked the governor as the best in terms of development record and delivery, prompting some individuals to sponsor biased research companies to tarnish his reputation.

Despite the allegations, Governor Abdi has been actively engaged in development projects, including the tarmacking of roads, street lighting, and spreading peaceful messages.

One notable achievement is the Ward Development Fund, which has helped several wards achieve development equally.
