Published on October 11, 2019, Moi University has indefinitely suspended academic programmes at its main campus due to unrest.

The Moi University Students Organisation (MUSO) had called for a peaceful gathering at the university's student centre, citing issues such as increased supplementary exam fees and prohibition of cooking in hostels.

However, the peaceful gathering turned violent, with students allegedly destroying property and injuring university officers, prompting the Deputy Vice-Chancellor to take drastic measures.

Students are now worried that the indefinite closure could extend their four-year course to seven years.

As the situation unfolds, we will keep you updated with the latest information.
