President Commends Rescue Teams After Wilson Airport Incident

On October 11, 2019, a scheduled flight from Nairobi to Mombasa and Lamu skidded off the runway at Wilson Airport in Nairobi, injuring several passengers.

According to State House Spokesperson Kanze Dena, President Uhuru Kenyatta commended the emergency rescue teams stationed at Wilson Airport for their swift response to the accident involving a Silverstone Air operated Fokker 50 aircraft.

"The president His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta commends emergency rescue teams stationed at Wilson Airport in Nairobi for their swift response following an accident involving a Silverstone Air operated Fokker 50 aircraft," Kanze Dena said in a statement.

The President also wished quick recovery to the passengers injured in the incident.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing, with the Civil Aviation Authority working to establish the cause of the mishap and put in place measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
