Silverstone Plane Crashes on Runway at Wilson Airport in Nairobi

On Friday morning, a Silverstone plane crashed on the runway at Wilson Airport in Nairobi, sparking an investigation into the cause of the accident.

The Lamu-bound Fokker 50 aircraft, flight 5Y-IZO, had 5 crew members and 50 passengers on board when it crashed shortly after take-off.

Fortunately, there were no fatalities reported, but two passengers were injured during the crash and were rushed to Nairobi Hospital for medical attention.

According to Silverstone Air, the plane had safely disembarked all passengers and crew, and the airline was working with the relevant authorities to assess the situation.

The Aircraft Accident Investigations Directorate, under the Ministry of Transport, Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development, is carrying out investigations to establish the cause of the accident.

On October 11, 2019, at 9:00 AM, the plane had an incident while taking off, and the cause of the crash is yet to be established.
