Published on October 11, 2019, the government has announced that the operation to retrieve a vehicle that slipped off a ferry at the Likoni channel crossing and sunk into the Indian Ocean will conclude today.
Strong underwater currents forced the multi-agency team to suspend the operation on Thursday evening.
Government spokesperson Cyrus Oguna expressed hope that the retrieval process will be completed by the end of the day.
"We are hopeful that the whole process will come to an end by the end of today," Oguna said.
The ferry services will continue as usual, but will avoid the area where the retrieval operation is ongoing.
