On October 11, 2019, Sarah Wairimu, the prime suspect in the murder of her husband Tob Cohen, appeared in court for a bail hearing.
Her father, in a show of support, was present in court to lend his backing to his daughter.
Justice Stella Mutuku granted Wairimu a Sh4 million bond and two sureties, with the alternative of paying Sh2 million bail.
However, before she can be released, Wairimu must provide testimonials from her parents and those who will host her.
The court also ordered Wairimu not to contact Cohen's two siblings and to stay away from the business Tob Ltd.
Justice Mutuku emphasized that bail is a constitutional right, unless there are compelling reasons to detain a suspect.
She stated, 'I have considered the compelling reasons,' indicating that she had weighed the evidence presented by the prosecution.
The prosecution expressed dissatisfaction with the ruling and announced plans to appeal.
