On October 10, 2019, a disturbing incident occurred at the Naivas supermarket on Moi Avenue in Nairobi. A middle-aged man, later identified as Paul, collapsed at the entrance of the store after purchasing a packet of milk.

According to eyewitnesses, the attendants on duty closed for the day, leaving Paul unconscious and unattended. It was not until 12 hours later, when the attendants returned to work, that they noticed the man's condition.

A well-wisher, Mark Owiti, eventually contacted the Nairobi County Ambulance Team, which rushed Paul to Kenyatta Hospital and admitted him to the Casualty wing for specialized treatment.

The Nairobi County Ambulance Team faulted the Naivas management for failing to call for help in a timely manner.

This incident raises concerns about the level of care and compassion provided by some businesses in Nairobi. Naivas supermarket has faced criticism in the past over the sale of poisonous meat products.
