Polo: Stage Set for Autumn Tournament in Timau

On October 11, 2019, the 8-Goal-Autumn Cup Polo Championships kicked off at the Northern Polo Club in Timau, Kenya.

The tournament, which has attracted four teams, will be officiated by Pamela Greenshields, a Zambian international defender who previously played for the Zambian National Women’s Team against Kenya at the Bell Inn/Swinbourne Cups Championships at Gilgil’s Manyatta Polo Club.

The four teams participating in the main tournament are Touchdown Forte, Topic Try Hards, Cherokee Chiefs, and Celest Top Trojans. Among these teams, Cherokee Chiefs have the top handicap at 8.5, while Celest Top Trojans and Topik Try Hards are tied on handicap 8.

Kenyan international Casimir Gross's team, with a handicap of 7.5, will start and play in all their three round-robin matches at the advantage of half a fraction of a goal.

The tournament will feature a mix of players from different handicaps, with the Championships set to see a three-team Abadan Cup Championships in the second-tier tournament.
