Kenya's Transport and Infrastructure Cabinet Secretary James Macharia has announced plans to expand the Nairobi-Nakuru highway, a project worth KSh160 billion, which is set to commence in December.
The expansion, a public-private partnership, will feature a four-lane dual carriageway in its first phase, with the possibility of increasing to six lanes depending on traffic.
According to Macharia, the project will bring a new dawn for business in Kenya and open up doors to investments, particularly for flower farmers and those in the tourism industry.
The Italian firm awarded the tender to carry out the expansion has been tasked with reviving the dilapidated state of the Moi South Lake Road in Naivasha, which has been a major concern for commuters.
