France's Euro 2020 qualification campaign has taken a hit with the news that star forward Kylian Mbappe will miss the upcoming matches against Iceland and Turkey.
According to coach Didier Deschamps, Mbappe has been struggling with a thigh injury since August, and despite initial hopes of his return, he has been ruled out of the squad.
Deschamps explained that Mbappe 'left for the simple reason that he wasn't ready' and 'will need more time' to recover.
As a result, Mbappe has been replaced in the squad by Borussia Moenchengladbach striker Alassane Plea, who made his international debut in a friendly against Uruguay last November.
France, who sit second in Group H, will visit third-placed Iceland on Friday before hosting group leaders Turkey on Monday.
