Men Only: A Blast from the Past ¶
It was a typical Saturday afternoon in Nairobi, and Tommy Omtita was getting ready for a date with his crush, Angel. He had just stepped out of the barber's, sporting a fresh box haircut, and was feeling confident.
Tommy's outfit was complete with a red shirt, big pockets, jeans, and Reebok high-tops. He had even applied some 'Yu' deodorant to make a good impression. At 2 pm, he knocked on Angel's green gate, and she welcomed him with a charming smile.
Angel was dressed to impress in her little white polka-dotted dress, with a touch of lipstick and blush on her cheeks. Tommy couldn't help but tease her, saying she looked like a Barbie doll. Angel playfully pouted, and Tommy quickly pulled her in for a hug.
As they walked to the matatu, 'XF', Tommy and Angel sang along to Michael Jackson's 'Human Nature'. The matatu was a popular route, and the tout, Brayo Wera, even offered them a special deal, saying 'Utabeba manzi wako' (you'll carry your girlfriend). Angel flirtatiously asked if she could pay half-fare, and Brayo agreed.
As they rode to town, the music shifted to M.J.'s 'Just Good Friends', and Tommy and Angel laughed and joked together. They eventually arrived at Kenya Cinema, where they joined a queue for the film 'Brothers in Arms'. Angel confessed she hated action movies, but Tommy had a soft spot for them.
Despite their differences, Tommy and Angel shared a romantic moment, and he decided to take the plunge and kiss her in the cinema hall. Little did he know, this was just the beginning of their exciting adventure together.
