Published on October 11, 2019, a group of MPs from Western have expressed their discontent with Deputy President William Ruto's frequent visits to the region.

Senator Cleophas Malala, who led the group, warned Ruto against setting foot in Western so long as the evicted Luhyas are not given back their land.

Close to 1,500 families were rendered homeless after they were evicted in a land tussle in Nandi.

Churches and schools were demolished during the operation on Wednesday night, according to the MPs.

‘I don’t want to mince my words on this, I want to tell the Deputy President you are not welcome in our area if our people are being evicted from Nandi,’ Senator Malala said during a presser on Thursday.

The MPs, who included Nominated MP Godfrey Osotsi, George Aladwa (Makadara), ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna, Caleb Amisi (Saboti), and Busia Woman Rep. Florence Mutua, called on President Kenyatta to intervene.

They expressed concern that a number of students sitting this year’s national examinations risked missing the exams due to the eviction.
