Former Kaspul MP Oyugi Magwanga has denied claims that he fraudulently registered a vehicle, saying he bought it from the government 12 years ago and paid all necessary taxes.

According to Magwanga, he purchased the Toyota Land Cruiser, registration number KBZ 333Q, from the government for Sh60,000 in 2007. He claimed that the vehicle was initially auctioned due to mechanical problems and was later bonded by the government.

Magwanga stated that he processed the car's registration through the Ministry of Health and had the necessary documents to prove his ownership. He also claimed that he has a bonded title, which gives him the same rights as a standard vehicle title.

Magwanga's denial comes after the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) announced that they are looking for the vehicle, which is one of 444 vehicles that have been fraudulently registered.

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has also denied claims that he owns a car that is among those impounded over fraudulent registration claims. Raila's spokesman, Dennis Onyango, denied knowledge of the luxury vehicle, a Range Rover registration KCS 002D.

Other individuals listed as owners of vehicles that are wanted by the DCI include Igembe North MP Maoka Maore, who refused to give the status of his car, saying the burden of proof should be on KRA.
