On October 10, 2019, escalating insecurity in five villages in Kojwang sub-location, Homa Bay County, led to the arrest of two suspects accused of raping two women.
The victims, aged 64 and 30, were attacked and raped on different occasions, sparking concerns over the safety of widows and women whose husbands are away.
Homa Bay County Deputy Police Commander Samuel Obara confirmed the arrest, stating that one suspect was apprehended on Tuesday night and the other on Wednesday night.
The suspects are being held at Kendu Bay Police Station pending arraignment on Friday.
Speaking at a public forum in Mariwa village, the police commander emphasized the need to address the rising insecurity in the area.
