On October 30, 2019, a unique collection of items owned by the late celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain went on sale at an online auction. The collection included a silvered bronze Michelin Man sculpture, an anatomical model of the human brain, and a vinyl figure of Guilala, an alien kaiju from the 1967 film The X from Outer Space.

Among the eclectic belongings was a custom chef's knife presented to Bourdain by renowned bladesmith Bob Kramer. Kramer, who specializes in kitchen knives, made the knife out of steel and meteorite and presented it to Bourdain on March 31, 2016. The certificate of authenticity described the 10-inch European-style blade with a cocobolo handle, accompanied by a cocobolo sheath.

The bidding for the knife started at $4,000 to $6,000 but quickly rose to over $11,000. The auction, which ended on October 30, 2019, donated 40% of the proceeds to the Anthony Bourdain Legacy Scholarship at the Culinary Institute of America, Bourdain's alma mater.
