A tourist visiting Nairobi's famous Giraffe Manor sparked a heated debate on Twitter after stating that Nairobi is in Africa.
The tourist, Gia A from San José, Costa Rica, posted a video clip of herself feeding a giraffe at the manor, captioning it 'Hello Twitter world, hope you all are having a nice day. This place: Nairobi, Africa.'
However, her comment did not go down well with Kenyans on Twitter, who flocked to her comment box to correct her and explain that Nairobi is actually in Kenya.
One Twitter user, @ngengimagana, simply stated 'This place is called giraffe manor an amazing place to have breakfast with these gentle giants. It is located in Nairobi Kenya.'
Another user, @Smogeric, added 'Saying Nairobi, Africa is like saying London, Europe. Say Nairobi, Kenya like you would say London, UK.'
Many users expressed their frustration and amusement at the tourist's mistake, with one user joking 'Its Nairobi, Kenya and at this rate the giraffe should've bit u?'
Others simply wondered which Nairobi she was referring to, with one user asking 'Are you sure you were in Nairobi? Nairobi is not in Africa. Check facts.'
The debate sparked by the tourist's comment highlights the importance of geographical knowledge and cultural sensitivity when traveling.
