Eliud Kipchoge, the 34-year-old marathon legend from Nandi county, popularly known as the source of champions, is set to attempt a sub two-hour marathon in Vienna on October 12, 2019.

Speaking at his first world press conference ahead of the INEOS 1:59 challenge, Kipchoge expressed his excitement and readiness for the historic event.

“Running in Berlin is running to break the world record. Running in Vienna is running to make history. It’s like the first man going to the moon,” Kipchoge said, drawing parallels between his attempt and Neil Armstrong’s historic moon landing on July 20, 1969.

As part of his strategy, Kipchoge will be flanked by dozens of elite runners who will act as his pacesetters during the race.

With a strong background in athletics, having won the 2016 Olympic marathon, Kipchoge is confident in his ability to push beyond human limitations and achieve the impossible.
