On October 10, 2019, Nairobi police commander Philip Ndolo announced the arrest of the last suspect linked to a Sh6 million robbery in Eastleigh, which occurred on Saturday morning.

Police constable Simon Mwandiki was arrested in Ruiru on Wednesday evening by Pangani DCI officers, bringing an end to the search for the suspects.

According to Ndolo, Mwandiki's accomplice, Petronila Njeri Ngaara, had fled with Sh2.5 million after the initial arrest of the other police officers, who were stationed at Kayole police station.

At the time of his arrest, Mwandiki did not have the money, but his detention now brings to five the total number of police officers arrested in connection with the robbery.

During the initial arrest, police managed to recover Sh3.5 million, three pistols, and 45 rounds of ammunition.

After Mwandiki's arrest, he led the police to his two houses in Kayole junction and Hurligham area in Njiru, where they recovered a cache of ammunition, including 30 rounds of ammunition, two bulletproof jackets, and fake currency.

He will be arraigned in court on Friday.
