On October 7, 2019, a chaotic scene unfolded at a bar in Nairobi when a patron, Bonface Mwai Weru, went berserk, dispersing other patrons and causing destruction.

Weru was subsequently charged with malicious damage to property at the Makadara law courts, where he denied the allegations before senior principal magistrate Steve Jalang'o.

However, in a surprising turn of events, Weru agreed to pay for the damages, which totaled Sh8,750, and was released from custody after raising the funds.
