Naivasha Chief Magistrate Joseph Karanja is set to hear a case filed by Gilgil MP Martha Wangari against her estranged husband Peter Karanja on November 6.

The MP wants Karanja to keep off their children and pay her Sh270,000 monthly upkeep for the two minors.

Wangari's lawyer, George Kimani, told the court that Karanja's true character should be exposed before he is allowed to access and interact with the minors.

Kimani cited media reports that Karanja has been involved in relationships with many women and has a bad social standing.

The MP has also questioned the authenticity of a report tabled by Gilgil sub-county children officer on the condition of the minors.

Lawyer FI Mburu, representing Karanja, asked for more time to reply to the petition, citing the accused person's right to a fair trial and presumption of innocence until proven guilty.
