On October 10, 2019, a shocking incident unfolded in Murang'a County, where a gang of thieves was caught red-handed by angry residents.

The thieves, who were later apprehended, made a stunning revelation: they had been working in cahoots with police officers from the Kiambamba Police Station.

According to eyewitnesses, the gang of three men confessed to stealing valuables from residents with the help of Administration Police (AP) officers stationed at Kiambamba camp.

The residents, who had initially planned to lynch the thieves, were persuaded to spare their lives after the gang implicated the police officers.

Area elder John Irungu Ng'ang'a expressed the community's distrust of the police, stating that they assume all theft cases are orchestrated by the police, even when residents provide key suspects' names.

Locals demanded the arrest of the involved police officers, chanting, 'Why should you arrest your fellow suspects? We want all of you to be arrested and charged together with the suspects.'

Murang'a South OCPD Dorothy Gacega assured the residents that their complaints would be investigated, and promised to work with other county police bosses to address the matter.
