Rainy Holiday Ahead: Kenya Meteorological Department Issues Warning

Kenya Meteorological Department has issued a warning of rain and thunderstorms throughout Thursday, October 10, 2019, a public holiday declared by Interior CS Fred Matiang'i.

The department, through its Twitter handle, advised Kenyans to be prepared for rain in the morning followed by showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon.

“Do you have plans this Holiday? Be prepared to catch some rains in the morning, Showers and Thunderstorms afternoon. Don’t forget, you can visit our website http://meteo.go.ke for other forecast products,” tweeted Kenya Met.

The department did not specify which parts of the country would experience the rains.

Kenya had been looking forward to the public holiday since Tuesday when Interior CS Fred Matiang’i announced October 10 as a public holiday.

The day was previously marked as Moi Day in celebration of the country’s second president Daniel Moi, but it was scraped off the list of National holidays in 2010 during the promulgation of the constitution.

Kenyan social media users, known as KOT, welcomed the announcement and shared their joy through the hashtag #ParteAfterParte.
