On October 10, 2019, former Chelsea and Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech announced his retirement from football, but it appears he's not done with sports just yet. The 37-year-old Czech has signed with the Guildford Phoenix, a British ice hockey team, to play as a goaltender.

According to the Guildford Phoenix's website, Cech expressed his excitement about the opportunity to play with the team, stating, "I am delighted to have the opportunity to play with the Phoenix to get the match experience."

With a storied career in football, Cech won numerous titles, including four Premier League titles, four FA Cups, three League Cups, the Champions League, and the Europa League during his time at Chelsea. He also added an FA Cup success to his resume while playing for Arsenal.

The Guildford Phoenix, founded in 2017, is based just south of London and competes in the fourth tier of Britain's ice hockey system. Cech hopes to help the young team achieve their goals and win as many games as possible when he has the chance to play.

"After 20 years of professional football this is going to be a wonderful experience for me to play the game I loved to watch and play as a kid," Cech said.
