Eliud Kipchoge to Attempt Historic Marathon in Vienna ¶
Marathon legend Eliud Kipchoge will attempt to make history by running a marathon under two hours in Vienna, Austria, on October 12, 2019.
Organisers have confirmed that the INEOS 1:59 Challenge will take place on Saturday, October 12, after initially considering a two-day window subject to weather conditions.
According to Robby Ketchell, who is leading the weather analysis for the competition, the day's conditions look ideal for the event.
"We have looked at the weather patterns for Vienna coming through and the current conditions are looking to be optimal for temperature, humidity, wind and precipitation for this Saturday morning," Ketchell said.
"For the Challenge we need a 24-hour window of no rain to keep all the surfaces dry and that is currently looking to be the case for Saturday too," he added.
Kipchoge, who arrived in Vienna on Tuesday, October 8, will now switch his nutrition and begin carb-loading in preparation for the historic race.
Having arrived in Vienna on Tuesday, October 8, the countdown now officially begins for Kipchoge ahead of the race.
