On October 7, 2019, police in Uganda arrested a man named Solomon Semakula, alias Elosam Emmanuel Prince Michael, who claimed to be Jesus Christ.
According to reports, Semakula was arrested in Kikaabya village in Bamunanika sub-county, Luwero District, after area residents raised suspicion about his unusual behavior.
Police reports indicate that Semakula was first arrested in 2016 in Kapeka sub-county, Nakaseke district, for being a member of an unlawful group.
Officer in Charge of Wobulenzi police station, Gideon Byomuhangi, confirmed the arrest and stated that the police were questioning Semakula to determine why he claimed to be Jesus Christ and behaved in such a manner.
Byomuhangi explained that Semakula told the police that he wore blue clothing because the sky is blue, and that he was the true son of God, born of the spirit, not by man.
Semakula and three other individuals were locked up at the Wobulenzi police station, awaiting charges.
