DCI Arrests 7 Young Kenyans Linked to SIM Card and M-Pesa Scams

On Tuesday, detectives based in Nairobi arrested seven young Kenyans aged between 21 and 28 at two separate houses in Kabete, Kiambu.

According to the DCI, the suspects are famously known as the 'Mulot Team' and are accused of defrauding unsuspecting citizens through M-Shwari withdrawals, fake M-pesa reversal claims, and M-pesa SMS cons.

More than 200 SIM cards, numerous mobile phones, and several agent registration registers were confiscated during the arrest.

The suspects, aged between 21 and 28, are Victor Rono, 23, Mercy Chepkirui, 21, Nicholas Kipkurui, 25, Wesley Kiprono, 28, Robert Kibet, 23, Faith Chepkorir, 23, and Felix Tanui, 24.

Police have launched investigations into the matter.
