Published on October 9, 2019, a public feud erupted between the wives of two prominent English footballers, Wayne Rooney and Jamie Vardy.
Coleen Rooney, the wife of Wayne Rooney, accused Rebekah Vardy of leaking stories about the Rooney family's private life to The Sun.
According to Coleen, she had posted false stories on Instagram over five months to test whether they would be published by The Sun, and indeed, they were. She claimed to have blocked everyone from viewing her Instagram stories except for Rebekah Vardy.
Rebekah Vardy responded by stating that she didn't need to sell stories about the Rooney family as her husband, Jamie Vardy, earns an estimated Sh20 million each week.
Rebekah also suggested that her account might have been hacked, saying, 'I'm not being funny but I don't need the money (so) what would I gain from selling stories on you? I'm disgusted that I'm even having to deny this.'
