Seven Suspects Linked to SIM Card and M-Pesa Fraud Arrested in Nairobi

On Tuesday, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) arrested seven suspects linked to SIM card and M-Pesa fraud in Nairobi.

According to the DCI, the suspects, aged between 21 and 28 years, were arrested in two separate houses in Kabete, Kiambu.

Recovered from the suspects were over 200 SIM cards, numerous mobile phones, and several agent registration registers.

The suspects, known as the 'Mulot Team', have been identified as Victor Rono (23), Mercy Chepkirui (21), Nicholas Kipkurui (25), Wesley Kiprono (28), Robert Kibet (23), Faith Chepkorir (23), and Felix Tanui (24).

The police have launched investigations into the matter and revealed that the suspects have been involved in defrauding citizens through M-Shwari withdrawals, fake M-Pesa reversal claims, and M-Pesa SMS cons.
