Police Officers Caught Stealing from KCB ATM in Machakos

On October 9, 2019, a security guard at a Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) ATM in Machakos raised the alarm after discovering five police officers stealing money from the machine.

The officers, who were identified as Corporal (CPL) Richard Wambua, Administration Police Constable (APC) Boniface Wambua, APC Cyprian Odundo, Prison Warder Julius Mwalili, and Prison Warder Musyoki Mutua, were found in possession of Ksh.268,000.

According to the police report, Ksh. 100,000 was recovered from the motor vehicle dashboard and another Ksh. 168,600 from Julius Mwalili, who had hidden it inside his socks.

The five officers are currently in custody as investigations into the theft commence.

This incident comes a day after Citizen TV aired footage showing police officers intimidating revelers at Kisima and Spiders bars in Kayole.
