Published on October 9, 2019, DP William Ruto and Jubilee candidate MacDonald Mariga met with church leaders from the Pentecostal Assemblies of God in Karen, a move aimed at solidifying the relationship between government and the church.
According to DP Ruto, the church is an important agent for social and economic transformation, and to further this cause, it needs to grow partnerships with the Government in key socio-economic areas such as health, education, and livelihood support for maximum development impact to be realized.
During the meeting, pictures released showed Mariga at the podium with DP Ruto as one of the church leaders stood reading the Bible. They later laid hands on the retired footballer as they prayed.
DP Ruto had also hosted leaders from Kibra constituency at his Karen residence the previous Friday to drum up support for Mariga, who will be facing 23 others vying for the Kibra MP seat.
