On October 9, 2019, a devastating ferry tragedy occurred in the Likoni Channel, leaving a family in mourning. Eleven days later, the Kenya Navy has finally located the bodies of the two victims, Mariam Kigenda and her 4-year-old daughter Amanda Mutheu, under the water.
The recovery team's breakthrough came after a prolonged search for the vehicle, a Toyota Isis, which had slid off the MV Harambee ferry while it was midstream in the Indian Ocean.
According to reports, the vehicle had reversed and slid off the ferry, resulting in the tragic drowning of Mariam and Amanda.
