On October 9, 2019, Safaricom announced that it would be changing its M-Pesa logo for seven days to show its support for Eliud Kipchoge, the world marathon record holder.

According to Safaricom's acting CEO, Michael Joseph, it was a great honor for the company to be associated with Kipchoge, who had achieved a super-human feat.

Joseph stated, 'It is an immense honour and privilege to have the opportunity to dedicate our iconic M-PESA brand in honour of a befitting icon.'

The new logo features the five letters spelling Kipchoge's first name, 'Eliud,' and the numbers '1:59' to denote the challenge he is undertaking.

Joseph added, 'It's great honour for Safaricom to be associated with this great man Eliud Kipchoge.'

Safaricom's Twitter handle (@SafaricomPLC) also expressed its support for Kipchoge, tweeting, 'Who sets the LIMITS anyway? https://t.co/Cnfdm4Cq0L' on October 9, 2019.
