Former Citizen TV news anchor Jacque Maribe has joined a charity effort in Dandora, a neighborhood in Nairobi, Kenya.
According to a social media post by Dennis Itumbi, a friend of Jacque Maribe, the charity effort is led by a woman named Monica who has been running a children's home in the area.
Monica, a waitress, has been saving her tips to help homeless children in Dandora and has started a program to provide them with shelter, food, and education.
She has been paying rent for two houses, each costing Shs. 5,000, to provide separate shelter for girls and boys.
Monica has also been feeding the children by convincing them to go to school, where they receive free lunch.
She has been buying goods in bulk and has asked for help from the public, including a request for 10 mattresses, size 4 by 6 or 5 by 6.
Itumbi has already sent Monica cash to help her with the charity effort and plans to deliver the mattresses with Jacque Maribe, who has offered to help with 6 of the mattresses.
Monica's charity effort has been recognized by Governor Mike Sonko, who has been tagged in the social media post.
